Ahmed Derdouri

Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Ahmed Derdouri is a geospatial scientist working with remote sensing, spatial analysis, and AI/deep learning. His research focuses on land-use and land-cover change, urban environments, climate adaptation, and spatially explicit modelling.

Career and affiliations

He joined the Land System Sustainability Lab at Tohoku University in July 2026. He was previously a Research Associate at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) and a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tsukuba. He received his PhD from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
